We’ve all striven for a bright and white smile at one point or another. But unfortunately, this has meant too much money or time for many of us. Also, many of the ‘quick’ and ‘cheap’ off-the-counter products are pretty harmful to our teeth, causing long-term damage. At Living Life Natural Blog, we believe everything has a natural remedy, and this includes your goals to reach that pearly genuine white smile.

Here are some simple recipes that will give you a naturally white smile

Foods and Drinks that Remove Stains

Yes, it’s true. What you eat and drink can significantly impact achieving a white smile. Fruits and veggies like apples, celery and carrots are natural teeth stain removers. Also, drinking lemon and ginger juice every day can shine and clean your enamel – go ahead and use these juices as a mouth wash. Rinse your mouth a few times a week, and you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Remember, just like some foods and drinks remove stains, there are things you’ll also want to avoid or reduce. Wine (both red and white), tea, sauces, coffee, sports drinks and cola are just a few. Perhaps we can’t entirely avoid these beverages, but we can try to reduce them. Another tip is to use a straw while drinking them and not keep it in your mouth for long. Once you finish drinking your wine or tea, it’s also a great idea to rinse your mouth with water right after it.

Easy Recipes for a Natural White Smile

Many have the habit of making their own toothpaste. The main reason is that most toothpaste you’ll find in everyday stores has lots of chemicals and toxins harmful to our overall health. We’ve covered this before on our blog. So make sure you have a read to learn about the dangerous chemicals in your toothpaste. To give you an idea, 95% of the toothpaste made in the United States contain Sodium Fluoride, an ingredient also used in rat poison.

Now, on to our natural recipes for the white set of teeth we promised. One of the easiest ways to whiten your teeth is by mixing baking soda, coconut oil and peppermint essential oil. Both baking soda and coconut oil can whiten teeth, removes stain and fight bad breath – a tablespoon of baking soda will require 2 tablespoons of coconut oil and 5-10 drops of your essential oil.

Another food that’s great for teeth whitening is strawberries. Smash 4-5 strawberries into a puree, and add your tablespoon of baking soda. Leave this on for a few minutes and do it once a week. If you don’t have strawberries at home, try adding fresh lemon juice to your baking soda – leave this one on for a minute and repeat once every week.

One way to really improve your oral health is through oil pulling. You have to swish around a tablespoon of extra virgin and organic cold-pressed oil for 20 minutes. Make sure you don’t swallow the oil. After it, brush your teeth with natural fluoride-free toothpaste. Oil pulling benefits the body in several ways by detoxifying, increasing energy levels, improving oral hygiene, reducing headaches, and whitening your teeth.
